Sergey Slavinsky is a brand strategist, consultant, author and educator who contributed to the development of branding and marketing as a profession in Russia from the 2000s through the early 2020s. Trained in both visual arts and economics, he has consistently combined creative practice with strategic and analytical thinking.
His career has included agency practice, teaching at the British Higher School of Art and Design, public speaking and long-running contributions to business and professional media. He published hundreds of articles and built one of the most widely read independent Russian-language blogs on branding, with tens of thousands of readers. He also developed a number of concepts, definitions and practical tools that spread across the Russian professional community.
Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Slavinsky withdrew from the Russian professional market and paused his branding career. The years that followed were a period of independent projects and a reassessment of how marketing, branding and design were being reshaped by artificial intelligence.
As the effects of that shift became clearer, his focus moved toward identifying the emerging patterns, failures and practical principles of working in an AI-shaped business environment. He has since returned to branding practice, now working globally from Finland, where he has been based since 2016. His current writing explores how branding, positioning, product development and design processes are changing in an international competitive context, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses operating across local and global markets.
